Recently,
we released a Node module that enables you to write a Lightstreamer adapter that runs inside Node.js. Wondering why you should consider Lightstreamer and this Node adapter rather than using Socket.IO? Well, for features and performances. Our JS guru Simone Fabiano benchmarked Socket.IO vs. Lightstreamer with NodeJS extensively in a data broadcasting simulation (messages generated on the server side and sent to over 4 thousand clients), ran over two Amazon EC2 Machines. Results showed that Lightstreamer seems to scale better than Socket.IO in terms of CPU usage, bandwidth consumption, and data latency.
